(MILWAUKEE) - The Lions shackled Green Bay's vaunted ground attack and stopped a late threat on Dick Lane's pass interception in the closing minutes, defeating Green Bay, 17-13. Lane picked the loose ball out of the air after Bart Starr's pass bounced off Gary Knafelc's fingers, ending Green Bay's final chance. Lane, a veteran defensive hack, hauled in the slippery ball at his seven, and returned it six yards. The Lions then ran out the clock in hree plays. The Detroit defense, rated by many as one of the finest in the league, surrendered a touchdown to Green Bay less than 3 1/2 minutes after the opening kickoff. But then the Lions settled down and bottled up the overland attack which led the Packers to the Western Conference championship a year ago. A couple of Yale Lary punts deep in Packer territory set up both Detroit scores.
