(MINNESOTA) - Bart Starr's passing, Tom Moore's running and Paul Hornung's kicking overcame a tough Minnesota defense as Green Bay spanked the expansion Vikings and took over the Western lead. Moore came into the game early in the first quarter when Paul Hornung aggravated a knee injury. The former Vanderbilt star ran hard many times, ripping through Minnesota arm tackles. The Packers moved at will up and down the field until they got within the Minnesota 20. Then the Vikings stood, four times forcing the Packers to settle for a Hornung field goal. Starr's 78-yard touchdown aerial to Boyd Dowler on the Packers' first offensive play of the game got Green Bay into an early lead. Minnesota moved against the Packers' defense but fumbles and interceptions stopped potential drives. The only Minnesota touchdown came on an 80-yard sustained march.
