(MILWAUKEE) - Tom Moore's apprentice days are ended. No longer an understudy, the former Vanderbilt flash is bidding for National Football League stardom as a replacement for suspended Paul Hornung. Moore, the Packers' top draft choice in 1961, scored twice on jaunts of 15 and 77 yards as the defending NFL champions rebounded from an upset by the Bears and belted the Detroit Lions, 31-10. Moore pulled the Packers out of danger with his 15-yard dash around end after the Lions had cut the deficit to 10-3. Then, with the score 17-10, he broke through the left side, spun and twisted out of the grasps of two tacklers on his 42 and went on his 77-yard jaunt in the fourth quarter. For the day, he gained 122 yards on 17 carries. The Packers overpowered the Lions with a tremendous defense which surrendered a total of 147 yards grudgingly. The Lions managed to complete only six of 26 passes including one desperation scoring toss which covered 23 yards.
