Green Bay Packers (1-2) 10, Miami Dolphins 7
PRE-SEASON - Saturday August 21st 1971 (at Miami)
(MILWAUKEE) - Scott Hunter passed 12 yards to John Hilton for a touchdown and Dave Conway kicked a 27-yard field goal Saturday night to lead the Packers over Miami. Conway's kick with 12:30 remaining provided the winning points as reserve quarterback John Stofa marched the Dolphins 65 yards in 11 plays to a seven-yard touchdown run by Hubert Ginn with 4.44 to play. The Dolphins, hampered by penalties, never got further than the Green Bay 38-yard line before that, as the Packers won their first game under new Coach Dan Devine. Hunter played most of the way and completed 10 of 22 passes for 104 yards. His touchdown pass to Hilton came with 46 seconds left in the first half. Hunter marched the Packers 40 yards in five plays, sparking the drive with 15 and six-yard passes to Dave Hampton. Ken Ellis returned a Miami punt 15 yards early in the fourth quarter to the Dolphins' 37. After a holding penalty stalled that drive, Conway kicked his field goal. Dale Livingston, Green Bay's regular place-kicker, earlier had missed field goal attempts from 42 and 39 yards.
