(GREEN BAY) - Bob Thomas kicked three field goals and the Chicago Bears held on in the closing seconds to defeat the Green Bay Packers 16-10 Thomas put the Bears ahead for good at 13-10 with a 22-yard field goal late in the third quarter and moments after CB Allan Ellis picked off his second pass of the day, Thomas connected form 25 yards with 9:46 left in the game. The Packers, who trailed 10-3 at the half, tied the game on Carlos Brown's 11-yard TD pass to Ken Payne early in the third quarter. Reserve quarterback Randy Johnson replaced Brown and led the Packers to the Bears' 39 in the final minute. But the drive ended there, preserving the Bears' victory. The Bears spurted to an early 10-0 lead on Thomas' 40-yard field goal and Bob Avellini's 49-yard pass to James Scott. On the touchdown, Scott beat cornerback Willie Buchanon, then caught the pass on his fingertips on the Packers' 10.
