Green Bay Packers (4-7) 19, Minnesota Vikings (4-7) 7
Sunday November 11th 1979 (at Milwaukee)
(MILWAUKEE) - David Whitehurst threw two touchdowns passes, and Terdell Middleton gained 135 yards on 27 carries to give Bart Starr his first coaching victory over the Vikings (1-8-1). Middleton's rushing effort was the best since he gained 148 yards in a game against the Lions in 1978. The game also marked the debut of K Tom Birney for the Packers. Mike Butler's 70-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown broke Henry Jordan's record of 60 yards set in 1964 versus the Cowboys. The loss for Minnesota put the Vikings' hopes for a seventh-consecutive NFC Central Division title nearly into extinction.
